Since 1998
It began with one truck and a promise to phone first.
Waybill started in 1998 with a single truck on a single lane, Rotterdam to Leeds, and a habit that customers noticed: if the load was going to be late, the driver rang before anyone had to ask.
The company is larger now. The habit is the same. Road, sea, air and rail freight, nine warehouses and our own customs brokers work as one team, on one system, under one tracking number, so that there is always one person who knows where your freight is.
We are still owned by the people who work here, and we still publish our on-time figure every January, including the part we would rather not print.

We used to ring four carriers to find one container. Now I open one page and see every load we have on the water, on the road and in customs. When a sailing slipped in March, Waybill told me before the shipping line did.
Our plants give a truck thirty minutes. Miss the slot and the line stops. In a year on these lanes I can count the late arrivals on my hands, and each one came with a phone call first.
The customs team is the reason we stayed. They caught a wrong commodity code on our first shipment, saved us the duty, and have filed every entry since before the goods arrived.
Peak week used to mean hiring a hall and twenty temps. This year the stock was already in two Waybill warehouses and the orders went out the day they came in. I slept in November.
Chilled freight is unforgiving. Seeing the trailer temperature next to its position changed how we plan, and the two times a fridge unit failed, the load was moved before we lost a single pallet.
I run the yard, so I judge a forwarder by its drivers. They turn up in the slot, they know the dock number and the paperwork matches the pallets. That is rarer than it should be.
